My friend and I spent some time in Disneyworld before and after our Disney Cruise.  We decided we had to try the incredibly stylish and fun Minnie Van service that Disney has rolled out!

What is the Minnie Van service?

Minnie vans are another mode of transportation that Disney has at Walt Disney World.  This is a private vehicle service that is operated by a Disney cast member.  

You order it via the Lyft app on your smartphone.  This service operates from 6:30 AM-12:30 AM.  The Minnie van service will drive you anywhere within Disneyworld, or you can also use it as your airport shuttle.

How do I request a ride in the Minnie Van through the Lyft app?

Once you have downloaded the Lyft app, you open it and pick your Walt Disney World destination.  

Confirm your pick up spot and tap on “Select Minnie Van”.  The app will then show you a map that tracks your vehicle as they make their way to you, so you will know exactly how far away they are.  It also gives you a number that is on the side of the Minnie Van so you are able to identify your pickup van easily.  

After your trip, you are able to tip your cast member through the app.

What is the Minnie Van like?

The Minnie Van is a Chevy Traverse mid-size SUV.  It is an adorable shade of red with white dots. It will hold 6 people.  It also has two complimentary car seats that the cast members know how to install!  

What is the cost of a Minnie Van?

A Minnie Van within the resort is based on the distance between your pick up location and destination.  You will see the cost prior to ordering your van in the Lyft app.  We used ours to go to Fort Wilderness Lodge from Coronado Springs, and it cost about $30.

If you decide to use the van as your shuttle from the airport, it is a flat fee of $150 each way.

My Personal Minnie Van Experience

As I mentioned, we used our Minnie van for transport from Coronado Springs to Fort Wilderness Lodge.  We could have used the Disney bus service for free, but we wanted the experience of the van.  

My friend downloaded the Lyft app and was able to quickly and easily secure us a Minnie van.  

Within 5 minutes, our van had pulled up.  I was taking pictures of it, and our driver happily hopped out and asked if I wanted a picture of us in front of it.  (Of course I did!)  She took a few pictures and we got in the car and started on our way.  She had been a Disney cast member for almost 4 years, and she was the sweetest person.  We chatted the whole way about our favorite things at Disney, and we found out she was actually from the same area of KY as us!!!  (It’s a small world!)  

The van was impeccably clean.  It was a very pleasant trip!

Is the Minnie Van worth it?

Let’s just face it.  It’s an expensive way to travel in Disney, especially when you can catch one of the Disney buses that are free to get where you want to go.  I certainly would not use it as my main mode of transportation.  

However, if you are exhausted, or you need to go somewhere at a peak time (i.e. after the Halloween party) and want to avoid other people for a while, or if you need to be somewhere in a timely manner (like a character dinner), then you may want to use the Minnie Van service for the convenience.  

It’s a great alternative to the other modes of transportation, and while you may not want to use it frequently due to cost, it certainly has a time and a place for use.
