Can Adults Have Fun on a Disney Cruise?
The answer to this is yes!! The Disney Cruise line experience isn’t just for families and kids! You can go on a Disney cruise as an adult and have a full and happy experience! We found the Disney cruise to be extremely relaxing!
Eight Things to Do on an Adult-Only Trip on the Disney Dream Cruise
Enjoy Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay
Serenity Bay is the adult-only beach on Disney’s private Bahamian island, Castaway Cay. You can get there by tram. (Note, you’ll have to take two trams. You’ll have to take the tram to Pelican Bay and then hop off and transfer trams to Serenity Bay. However, you won’t have long waits as the trams are frequent, and the stops are all shaded with benches.)
The beach is absolutely beautiful with crystal clear water. It’s definitely quiet on the adult-only beach, and you’ll be able to relax as you please.
There was plenty of seating available at all hours. The adult beach doesn’t get as crowded as the family beach, and so you have great choices for seating! Lay back and read a book, take a nap, lie in a hammock, or rent a pool float and float your worries away.
When we were there, a stingray came up close to the beach and I got a really close look at him! So beautiful!
The lunch served on the island is included in the cost of your cruise, so it is not additional money. There is an adult restaurant at the adult beach, so you don’t have to travel back to the family areas for lunch.
The neat thing about the adult BBQ is that it does have ribeyes, which the family BBQs do not serve. I highly suggest the Cajun Mahi Mahi – it is delicious!!!
There is a bar on the beach with seating available, but waiters will come straight to you. We had the best waiter, and he asked if we wanted to be happy with a drink! He even joked he could get us an Uber back to the boat if needed! He was such a fun waiter, and happily brought us drinks. I had a Pina Colada and a Konk Kooler! They were delicious.
Relax in Adult Only Spaces
There’s a great bar (Currents) on Deck 12 for the adults in the adult-only section. Grab a drink and sit in the wicker chairs and watch the boat sail away from shore without the chaos and crowd. You’ll find lots of adult-only places tucked away like this.

You can also enjoy the adult-only pool (aptly named Quiet Cove Pool), which even has a swim-up bar!
There is also the District, which is a variety of different bars and entertainment areas, which leads us to number 3…..
Adult Nighttime Entertainment
We played trivia A LOT. We played 80s music trivia, TV tunes trivia, and others! Sadly, I can’t say we won any of them, but we had fun losing! There was also a karaoke one night, and while that isn’t our thing, we enjoyed watching it! They even had an adult-only show from the magician on board. There is never a lack of adult entertainment at night.
We personally enjoyed the 687 Pub, which was a great little pub where you can order bar food and drinks while you play trivia. If there wasn’t an activity going on, you could play chess or checkers at some of the different tables. They also have a big screen TV for you to watch your favorite game on. My friend watched the UK basketball game one evening while we were on board.
You can find out all the offered Disney cruise activities by looking at the onboard navigator they will place on your bed nightly, or by looking at the navigator app on your phone (which is my choice for looking at activities.) The app puts underneath the activity name if it’s for youth, adults-only, or all ages. You can highlight the ones you want to attend, and your phone will alert you 15 minutes before it starts so you can make your way over!
Adult Only Specialty Dining
The Disney Dream has two different adult-only dining options, Remy or Palo. These do not come included in your cruise price, so you will pay extra. From what I hear, it’s worth the extra money! They are also a more formal dress code. (Men are usually in button-downs and dress slacks, with the occasional jacket. No tie required.)

Watch a Movie
While the theatre isn’t adult only, you can still catch some great movies. Some of the movies are even offered in 3-D! This is included in your cruise, and no extra cost unless you want movie snacks. Often, you can catch a new Disney release before it hits the theatres! My family and I were able to catch Moana and Dr. Strange (in 3-D) on our first cruise, and my friend and I watched Ralph Breaks the Internet and Mary Poppins.
The Rainforest Room at Senses Spa and Salon
The Rainforest Room is located in Senses Spa and Salon and offers a relaxing adult escape. You can get a one day pass or a length of stay pass. My husband and I took advantage of this while my son was at the kids club on our last cruise, and my friend and I took advantage on this cruise as well. (Yes, it is so amazing that I wanted to enjoy it AGAIN!)
When you check-in, you are given a robe and slippers to slip into. (This is a co-ed spa, so just wear your bathing suit under that robe!) There are lockers that you will put your belongings in with a four-digit code set to your choice.
Once you walk into the spa area after changing, you can go to the left and enjoy the various showers or straight ahead to the loungers and hot tubes. There is an area to grab yourself towels or refreshing lemon water in the spa.
It has two hot tubs that have an amazing view. They are in a small separate glass room with open-air windows to allow the breeze to come through.
Alternatively, you can just sleep your cares away on the heated loungers. You can also read your favorite book while resting your weary bones, and they even come equipped with a reading light. There are ten of those. I have never seen them completely taken, so I don’t find it difficult to find an open lounger to use.
The heated loungers are available in the Rainforest at Senses Spa.
There are also five different showers that have temperatures and settings that are fun to play in. I enjoyed the rainforest setting personally. There are also three saunas with different temperatures. You can buy some scented scrubs as well to use while in those showers. They come in small containers to tote your extra scrubs home!
Once you are done in the spa, they have amazing showers in the changing and locker area. I ended up showering here, while my friend went to the room to shower. They have mounted shampoo, body wash, and conditioner for your use. There is a small changing room between the open locker area and your shower. They supply hairdryers, q-tips, makeup removal pads, among other things you might need while getting ready after your shower.

Cooking Demonstration for Adults Only!
The Disney Dream offers a series of cooking demonstrations called “Anyone Can Cook”. Some are family-friendly, like the apple strudel class I took, but some are adult-only, like the lobster ravioli. While the chef teaches you step-by-step with a demonstration, you will get to munch on what they are making.
The lobster ravioli was taught by a French chef out of the Remy restaurant. In this class, I had a wonderful taste of the lobster ravioli with a small glass of paired wine! They provided a copy of the recipe so you can try your hand at recreating it once you get home.
Act Like a Kid!
It’s a Disney cruise, so why not act like a kid?! You are never too old to enjoy the Disney characters! Have your picture made with Donald and Daisy, go down the Aquaduck (the awesome water coaster on the Dream), or dance your cares away at the Sailaway party! We may have been celebrating the big 4-0 but there were moments that made me feel 10 again!
So don’t hesitate to book a Disney cruise for an adult-only trip!! You won’t be lacking any adult entertainment! And don’t fret – if you do have the kids, just drop them off at the kids club that has amazing hours and take some time to yourself while the counselors entertain them!
