School mornings can be very hectic and sometimes overwhelming. You can feel pulled in every direction!! However, there are some things you can do to make things a little easier. These school morning hacks are sure to make your school mornings a little more manageable!
School Morning Hacks to Make Things More Manageable
Have you ever wondered how you can make school mornings easier? I think every mother in the history of moms has wondered the same thing. We all have our difficulties, and as you know, each kid is different. Some kids wake up easily, some are hard to get moving… some pick at breakfast while some scarf it down!
Here are a few life hacks to make school mornings a bit easier for you, regardless of what difficulty you face in the morning.
Prepare for School the Night Before
If you prepare for your school morning the night before, you can save a lot of time and headaches!
Start by getting the clothes laid out for the next day. This includes socks, underwear, and shoes. This makes your morning decisions minimal and you won’t waste time looking for clothing articles like socks.
Also, make sure the book bags are packed, homework is done, and all the papers are signed. If there is money to send in, go ahead and get that prepared and in the bookbag.
Once it is packed and ready to go, place it near the door so they can easily grab it on the way out!
Master Meal Prep for Lunch and Breakfast
I know it’s easy to think about dinner when you think of meal planning or meal prep. However, breakfast and lunches can be an important part of meal prep!
Even if you don’t cook breakfast, knowing what you plan to eat still saves time. If you do desire a cooked, warm breakfast, you can cook it ahead of time and just simply warm it up or prep the basics so it can come together easily.
Our favorite make-ahead breakfast is this sausage and bacon quiche, and it’s easy to warm up slices in the microwave to eat on throughout the week.

Get Up Earlier
I highly encourage you to add just 15 more minutes to your morning.
You will be surprised what you can get done in just an extra 15 minutes. You can also just use that time to sit still, have some coffee, and get centered.
That brings me to another school morning hack…
Make Time for Yourself in the Mornings
Don’t be afraid to take a small amount of time for yourself before the kids get up. It might be sitting in the quiet, drinking a coffee, but it might be checking your email or taking another 5 minutes in the shower.
Whatever it is that calms and centers you, do it! Then, when it’s time to get up the kids and the chaos of morning time ensues, you’ll be better prepared to handle whatever comes your way.

Have a Morning Routine
This simple strategy can help set the whole day. If I start out my day with a routine, the day goes much smoother.
Morning routines will look different for everyone. What works for one person may not work for you.
You may be able to just reorganize your morning activities to be more efficient. You will find, though, doing the same actions every morning will help you be more efficient and waste less time.
Stay Organized in the Mornings
This goes along with the routine. Organization will help expedite your day!
Keep everything in the same place. Bookbags should always be in the same place every evening so it’s easy to find and grab the next morning on the way out the door. Make sure the keys are always in the same spot as well. You don’t want to spend precious time searching for something!
Everything should have a place.
Rely on Clocks and Timers
I love the trick of a timer for everything. Timers are great for smaller kids who can’t yet tell time. However, for older kids, you can tell them to get things done by a certain time and making sure they can see a clock.
We often will say something like “Get dressed and ready and downstairs for breakfast by 7 am.” Then, the clock can be used to ensure everything is getting done in a timely manner. For a younger child, setting a timer to know it’s time to move to another task is very helpful.
One Last Check Before Leaving
Before you walk out the door, have your child do one last check. Do they have everything they need? Homework? Sports equipment? Once the last check is done, you can leave without having to turn around or run back inside.
These are my favorite school morning life hacks and can be used by anyone! They are easy to implement and don’t take a lot of extra resources! What do you like to do in the mornings to make school mornings easier?
