This article will show you have to save time shredding chicken using a KitchenAid stand mixer!! This will save you so much time and hassle while meal prepping and in the kitchen!

Chicken is so versatile, and we love chicken at our house. It’s so easy to put into dishes of all sorts, from casseroles to soups. I love recipes that feature shredded chicken, but I never want to take the time to make and shred the chicken beforehand! So, I want to share a little kitchen hack with you on shredding chicken!

Did you know you can use your Kitchen Aid stand mixer to shred your chicken?

This definitely beats standing there and shredding with two forks forever.

How to Shred Chicken with Your Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer

Start by making your chicken breasts. You can bake or boil them, but I just make mine in the instant pot. I find it’s so much easier that way!

Then, while the chicken is still warm, put them in your stand mixer (I use my KitchenAid mixer!) that is fitted with the flat paddle attachment.

Turn the mixer on low speed for 30 seconds – 1 minute. Watch carefully as it doesn’t take long to shred the chicken.

This is such an awesome hack when meal prepping, or even when you want to freeze shredded chicken! It’s so nice to have it on hand and ready to go.

How Do I Freeze Shredded Chicken?

You can simply freeze the shredded chicken in a freezer-safe bag or container. I personally use my Food Saver to vacuum seal everything.

When you decide to use the chicken, just let it thaw out in the refrigerator prior to using it.

Check out my Benefits to Freezer Cooking post to learn more about how I freeze foods.

What Kind of Foods Can I Use Shredded Chicken For?

Shredded chicken, as I mentioned earlier, is so versatile. You can use it in a variety of foods including:

  • Chicken tacos
  • Pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches
  • Chicken enchiladas
  • Chicken chili
  • Chicken salads
  • Chicken and rice

I hope you enjoyed this little kitchen hack! Now, I never hand shred chicken, I always just use my KitchenAid mixer! What do you use shredded chicken for?
