These delicious sausage cream cheese crescent pinwheels are surprisingly easy to make and only take 3 ingredients! They are a hit at holiday parties and pot lucks!
I usually make these around Christmas time to take to parties.
But, during this pandemic, I had some cream cheese and crescent rolls I didn’t want to expire. And I was wanting something a little different. This cooking 3 times a day has been leaving me feeling in a rut! So, I made some sausage and cream cheese crescent pinwheels. They were obviously a hit and didn’t last long in this house!
Easy Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Pinwheels Recipe
- 1 lb of mild ground sausage
- 1 can of crescent rolls
- 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
How to Make the Crescent Roll Pinwheels
First, brown up your sausage and drain it.
Mix the warm sausage in with the softened cream cheese. Blend it together well. (Yes, it looks sort of gross, but that’s ok, the taste is delicious!)
Roll your crescent rolls out into a rectangle. I use my hands to push it out and make it a bit larger and I pinch the seams together slightly.
Spread your cream cheese and sausage mixture on to the crescent roll dough delicately. I just use the back of the spoon to push it out and down rather than use the spreading motion so I don’t tear the dough.
Then, roll the dough into a log.
I place it into the refrigerator for a while at this point to help it firm up so it’s easier to cut into pinwheels later. I wait anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
Then, pull it out and slice it into pinwheel rounds. I use a Silpat to keep it from burning or sticking.
I bake them based on the crescent roll directions. These were 375 degrees for 12-14 minutes. I also find that I prefer to flip mine halfway through so they are evenly golden on BOTH sides!
