Learn the 5-5-5 method of making hard boiled eggs in your instant pot. It’s the easiest way to make hard boiled eggs! They peel so easily, without any fuss! You will never use your stove top for this again!
The instant pot makes hard boiled eggs so easy. It was the second thing I ever made in my instant pot. (The first was a whole chicken.) Let me tell you – it is SO satisfying for the second thing you ever make in your pressure cooker to turn out so fabulous, and it also gets you addicted to using it!

How to Make Instant Pot 5-5-5 Eggs
To do this, you place your eggs in your pot. I use 6 eggs at a time because it works for my family size, but you could do as many as your pot can hold.
A lot of people use an egg rack, but I don’t have one so I just use the trivet my instant pot came with. I just stack the eggs carefully, and I’ve never had trouble. If you do over 6 eggs, it’s helpful to use a steamer basket.
Pour in 1 cup of water. (You always need at least one cup of water to get the pressure cooker to come to pressure.)

On to the pressure cooking! Lock your lid and move your pressure release valve to sealing.
The 5-5-5 method works this way:
5 minutes at high pressure
Just press the “manual” button, and adjust the time to 5 minutes. While my eggs are cooking, I prepare the ice bath in advance. I just get a big bowl of ice water and leave it setting in the sink ready to go.
5 minutes of natural pressure release
Once the instant pot beeps to tell you it’s done, let it natural pressure release for 5 minutes. Then, quick release the rest of the pressure.
5-minute ice bath
Put all of your eggs into the ice bath you have prepared. I usually use tongs to place my eggs in the ice water. If you have a steamer basket, you can just pull it out and put the whole basket into the water bath.

Once the eggs have rested in your ice water bath for 5 minutes, you can go about your work of peeling them. The eggs will peel SO easy.
I just simply tap with the back of my spoon and the shell practically falls off.
