Here is a sample weekly dinner meal plan for our family dinners. Sometimes, knowing what is for dinner is the hardest thing! Planning ahead for our dinners takes the stress out of the weeknight.
I wrote a meal plan out for our weekly dinners a week or two ago, and I shared it. I had a lot of comments from readers on how helpful it was to them as well. So, I thought I’d share more!
Why Should You Meal Plan?
The main reason for meal planning (for me) is it makes things a little easier in general. If there could be an easy button, I’d take it!
You can have all of the decision making done and also have all the ingredients at hand. By having the decision made and all your healthy ingredients nearby, it helps avoid the pitfalls of takeout or unhealthy choices.
You can take it one step further, by making your own DIY meal kits ahead of time on the weekend! I used to subscribe to a weekly dinner meal kit, and I loved it at the time. It’s since gone out of business, and I haven’t found another dinner service that I’ve enjoyed as much. Then, I realized I can sort of make my own!
Meal planning will also limit the time you use running out to the store for groceries and also help save money by not getting last-minute take-out food.
Before we go on to the weekly dinner plan, you can learn more about my meal planning strategy! I always use my Erin Condren Life Planner to meal plan, as well as their meal planning dashboard!
Weekly Dinner Meal Plan for August 23rd – August 30th
Note, these are only the dinner plans for my family.
I tend to intermittent fast, so I usually don’t eat breakfast. If you’d be interested in my lunches, let me know. I’ll be honest – lunches are my hardest meal. I tend to eat at my desk and I find it hard to be full and stay healthy. It’s a work in progress.
This week seems to have a theme of instant pot and air fryer foods!
Sunday
Breakfast for Dinner! We love breakfast foods. We will have eggs, toast, bacon, and different jams. Tonight, we will probably have scrambled eggs.
When I want to do something really different with the bacon, I spice it up a little with spicy candied bacon!
Monday
Skinny Taste Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
It’s still hot in KY! I don’t really want to get the kitchen too hot, so I’m really grabbing for those recipes that just require gadgets and not the oven. And don’t equate food made by gadgets to poor taste! They can be super delicious!
I served this with a side salad and a piece of garlic bread. (I make my garlic bread in the air fryer too, so as not to heat up the kitchen. I do the bread first!)
Tuesday
Super easy crockpot food, staying in theme with the gadgetry.
I serve this with tortilla chips and a sprinkling of Mexican blend cheese on the top. You can also add a dollop of sour cream and slices of avocado to round it out!
Wednesday
It’s back to the instant pot tonight, with super easy beef tips! Serve over mashed potatoes for a complete and filling meal!
Thursday
Leftover night!
Toward the end of the week, I’m tired! My brain (and body) really don’t want to do a lot other than coming home to crash.
Eating leftovers is also a good way to avoid food waste.
Friday
Almost every Friday, we order pizza.
So this is a night out. We have a local pizza pub that makes amazing cauliflower crust pizzas!
Saturday
Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti from Spend with Pennies
Absolutely delicious comfort food! Serve with a side salad and bread to top it off!
